This summer has been fairly uneventful compared to earlier years, and now that we’re well into August, I simply can’t wait for fall to come. It’s my favorite season with nature’s beautiful colors, sunday nights sitting under a blanket, enjoying a cup of hot chocolate while watching my favorite reality show of all time (Alt for Norge, a.k.a The Great Norway Adventure), Halloween and of course NFL. I absolutely love it! Also, I’ll soon be going back to school to get a Master’s degree, which is something I really look forward to.
Anyway… Summer. While some of our plans fell through because hubby had to work, we still managed to do some other things.
We went to Tons of Rock, an annual three-day rock/metal festival at Fredriksten Fortress. Next year the festival will be celebrating its 5 year anniversary, and we’ve attended every year. This year, though, I decided to go the first day only. The festival is really great, and has had some pretty huge bands since the beginning. Unfortunately, this year’s lineup was not ideal for me. Personal highlight: TNT. They’re great, so if you like hard rock you should check them out if you haven’t already
In the beginning of July, I had one of my very closest friends over for a couple of days. In addition to what we usually do, such as sitting around and talking while watching a super cheesy movie, we decided to go on a little road trip to this place in Sweden:
This is a really special shopping place. This store sells just about everything, from clothes to pet food. It’s also really cheap, which obviously attracts a lot of people. It can get crazy crowded, especially during summer. The store has its own hotel and camping sites, and there are even TV shows (yes, plural) about this place, as well as a few spin-offs that follow two of the employees traveling to various countries and cities.
Last weekend we went to a cabin just outside Tønsberg (Norway’s oldest city, btw) with some of hubby’s relatives, which was a lot of fun. Also took a little time to explore.
These pics are taken at Verdens Ende (World’s End), on the island of Tjøme. Lovely place.
So, these are some of the highlights of my summer. How was yours?
