Two years ago

After waking up yesterday, I checked my facebook and found a memory notification. This date two years ago was the day we went to Tacoma for my semester abroad. Such a good time.

“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” – Exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture (formerly known as EMP Museum) in Seattle
Adorable raccoons in Point Defiance Park
Mt. Rainier
Cheney Stadium, home of the Tacoma Rainiers
Washington State Spring Fair 2015

A little bit of the beautiful PLU campus

The whole thing was a really valuable experience. It came with some challenges, but nothing that wasn’t possible to adjust to in a fair amount of time. All in all, I learned very much. Not just in class, but about myself, about culture, about life.

It was also very interesting to experience a different educational system. Some things were more difficult than back home, such as having all assignments through the semester and in-class participation count towards the final grade (I was used to that only finals counted) and only being able to miss 2-3 classes per course (Most of my classes back home were recommended but optional to attend). It wasn’t really that bad though, because it made me work even harder, and finals didn’t seem so heavy.

Studying abroad is definitely something I would recommend. I know I’d do it again in a heartbeat if I could.

  1. Isn’t it great when we look back on our adventures and immediately the sights, sounds, smells, and taste of the moments come back with such clarity. You were busy. Loved each photo but especially the raccoons and Mt. Rainier. It is going to be exciting to see the world through your eyes and words.
